Città Commercial: Get to Know Beks Sorrell

Go behind the scenes at Città Commercial. Beks recently joined the Città team, stepping into the role of Commercial Account Manager at our Mt Eden showroom.

A creative at heart, she has an innate eye for how a space works best and is passionate about helping clients bring their projects to life. In our latest journal post, we speak to Beks about her background, her style… and her love of a good garden.

Hi, Beks! We’re excited to welcome you to Città’s commercial team. Tell us about yourself and your background.

I have a design degree from Otago University. My first job out of university was in fashion, where I spent nearly 20 years in this industry, representing international brands throughout Australasia. I was fortunate to travel regularly to Paris and Denmark for sales meetings and fairs. This opened my eyes to amazing architecture and design—eventually inspiring my move into interiors.

For the past five years, I worked in lighting—specifying and designing for residential, commercial, and large-scale hotel projects with leading New Zealand architects, designers, and contractors. When I saw the Città role advertised, I knew it was the perfect next step.

What attracted you to Città and what are you looking forward to in the role?

Città is a New Zealand design house synonymous with timeless design and quality craftsmanship. I’m proud to represent the brand and excited to grow the commercial market.

I’m looking forward to working alongside our designers and clients to shape the interior of a project. There’s something special about taking a brief and seeing it transformed into a finished space.

Can you share a little about your personal interior style?

I've been slowly renovating my 1970s townhouse, starting with the garden. It sparked a new passion, and now half my camera roll is filled with inspiring gardens!

I like to take time with a space, choosing only pieces I truly love and will cherish for years. My style is calm and pared back, with neutral tones and natural materials. My kitchen is based on a Vermland style, so I’m naturally drawn to Danish and Japanese influences.

Working at Città suits my style perfectly—the Craft range and new Exhibit Shelf are exactly what I’d choose for my own home. I feel fortunate to work alongside our talented designers and to contribute to the brand Margot has built.
